DAY 5 – Running repairs and better prep
LOCATION – FALMOUTH, CORNWALL
CREW – ME, STEVE
WIND – E, LIGHT
SEA STATE – CALM, HARBOUR
WEATHER – PATCHY CLOUD & LATE SHOWERS
Decided to delay our leaving for France for a day to finish off repairs and wait for some slightly more favourable weather so we now intend to leave at 6 am tomorrow (Friday 27th May) with a leisurely 140 miles to the marina in Brest (should take around 24 hours) where we will be joined on Saturday evening by 2 more crew members, friends of Steve’s to help with the Biscay bay and Atlantic coast legs of the trip.
So a quieter day spent in Falmouth today, drying out the boat and equipment, fixing some of things we had come across during the trip down.
Couldn’t believe that most of the restaurants we tried at 8.30 pm were either not serving as they were too busy or the kitchens had closed! In some ways I’ve been really spoiled by Turkey or destiny is telling me to open a restaurant in Falmouth.
Anyway, off to bed now to prepare for an early start tomorrow and it’s just started to rain, lovely to hear the rain on the roof, not so lovely when it’s on your head, shoulders, arms, legs, feet etc etc…….
